LATEST TRENDS: Spikes and Studs ☮

Spikes and studs are all the rage right now. On shoes, on shorts, as accents, as major accessories, it's a must-have nowadays! It adds spunk to an outfit, making it edge and giving off a rocker vibe. It could be toned down as well, peeking out from different parts of the garments. Whether it be metallic or neon, this trend will be around for a while.

Here are a few of my favorite bloggers sporting the trend!

What a sight!

Here are a few ways on how you can wear spikes and studs without overdoing it:

Focusing the studs on a particular garment calls for simplifying the outfit altogether. With one staple piece, you can work from there and make the outfit stand out through color accents.

For accessories with spikes or studs, you can never go wrong with the basic skinny jeans and white shirt ensemble. Express yourself with accessories, but keep the outfit mute with basic colors that doesn't draw much attention.

Lastly, if the studs and the spikes are focused on the shoes and the bags, you can accessorize from the waist up. Since the studs are minimal, accessorizing is okay, as long as it doesn't go out from the whole look of the outfit.

There you go! Studs and spikes may look deadly and tough, but they sure know how to make an outfit stand out.

(P.S. Invitation House will be selling spiked accessories soon, so watch out for that!)

LATEST TRENDS: Neon ☮

In the 80's, neon colors were all the rage. Along with the teased hair and the heavy eyeliner, neon yellow was used in jacket detailing. Meanwhile, hot pink socks could be seen peeking out from teenagers' Doc Martens. With that being said, it transcended decades and ended up as a fashion staple used by renowned fashion designers all around the world, as well as making it's way into mainstream fashion.

Since neon colors are bright and very "out there", we wouldn't want people complaining about your head to toe yellow ensemble, would you? It's better to balance it out with a darker color - preferably black. That way, the colors stand out in a muted way. Just like this outfit, the black top and bag balance out the colored items, and the denim vest brings it a casual touch. As much as possible, don't use more than 3 colors. Make sure they compliment each other, so they don't clash. Fashion mishaps with this trend are big no-nos.

Now, here are two outfits to show you how to wear it in two different ways. The first one is called COLOR BLOCKING. If you want to focus more on the color, make sure they all complement each other, as I said above. The second one uses neon as an ACCENT. Black is the staple color, with neon colors popping out in different forms: prints on the skirt, detailing on the bag, and the oxford flats. The colors balance out each other, and add vibrance to the black ensemble.

Neon could be used in more ways than one, but the biggest mistake is to use one color all at once. Try to mix and match colors, as well as trying it with prints. The sky's the limit!

LATEST TRENDS: Pastels ♡

Pastel colors are, in my opinion, one of the many things that never go out of style. They're very girly and easy on the eyes since they are the lightest shade of a specific color, so they pretty much embody the 'innocent young girl' style. Whenever I think of pastel colored clothing, it reminds me of tea parties, castles, and pretending to be princesses - the highlight of every girl's childhood. They just about go with everything, most especially nude or neutral colors. With that being said, pastels are very easy to match with. The photo above is just one example of how I'd wear pastel colors; but of course, the way I wear it could be different to the way you would.

A lot of celebrities have been sporting pastel colors for the longest time, so the Easter Egg-inspired colors aren't exactly a 'new' trend. Pastel colors should be equally distributed throughout the whole outfit. Focus on one or two shades, then grab neutral colors (nude or white works best) to balance the complete look. I'll admit that's not exactly what I did with the look above (I went pastel crazy), but if it works, then I say go for it!

As for prints, floral works best for pastels, but only if you're going for that very dainty/girly look. Pastels can sometimes be taken out of its context, and used as a mediocre way of defining the word "pretty". I guess you could say they use pastels sarcastically? A lot of "teen witch" type of tumbleblogs use pastels that way.

Moving on, I took the liberty of scavenging LookBook for a couple more outfits that could serve as more examples, so before any of you guys start accusing Bea or I for stealing, I'd like to give full credits to the owner of the following photos. I'd like to add that they're very lovely photos as well, but without further ado, here they are.

My personal favorite is the very first look. It's very hip and kind of edgy in a girly way, so kudos to Chloe T. for an amazing outfit! I love love love her shoes and the socks she paired with it. I wish it would just pop up in my closet... *dreamy sigh* Well anyway, that's about it! 'Til the next post! :)
